If I lived during the Roman era then I would have travelled to Rome...
So on the plane for a trip around the globe...
The Mustang enjoys the Brisbane stop over.
So here we are in the USA to have a look at what the peak of civilization in this century has to offer its people...
First impressions weren't that impressive.
Went for a walk down Hollywood Boulevard the first day. We averaged about six homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk every linear mile. Had pipe smoke blown in my face twice and down toward the corner of Ventura the have there own traffic island inhabitants.
Herrison (traffic) Island?
Down at the tinsel end of the Boulevard the tourists are busy with all the expected things including a long lost brother...
And a Hollywood version of a Swan View classic...
The highlight of the first walk was finding the Scientology headquarters. Cruised past the security for a money shot with L Ron's bust...
Not all the crazy people were out on the street...
In fact a lot of the homeless were wearing hospital bracelets. We saw the Salvos serving up a soup kitchen, and the Seventh Day Advents were promoting a free medical clinic day on a billboard. The scientologists were inside counting Thetans...hmm...
Pretty depressing day to see so many without a safety net... We sat in Starbucks at the corner of Hollywood and Vine and saw some bin diving that was allowing these Los Angeles locals to be "Living the Dream".
The next day we went for a walk to Griffith park which overlooks Hollywood for a money shot of the sign. Went the wrong way but still had a great view...
The Mustang found the trip down easier after she had some encouragement from the rebel without a clue...

The subway was pretty cool so we got around and met some more crazies...
Look! Squirrel!
The Mustang was really impressed with sharing the Space Shuttle Endeavour exhibit with seven thousand screaming school kids.
Getty Centre - This is a sculpture titled The Vexed Man. Appropriate?
The Getty Centre gardens were impressive...
The Mustang getting her geek on.
Coffee with a friend at the Natural History Museum.
And then onto the train.
Pretty dry - and they have grass trees. Same genus?
Excitement on the train - this is all of Denton's Police Force looking for a crazy girl who jumped off the train.
Stopped at Alpine where they love their murals. Big art community.
Anyway, made it through to Dallas, a really modern city and a bit of a juxtaposition from LA.
Next stop? Stay tuned...
