You have to choose to participate in life.

The really scary thing is that you can start right now...

Back to Darwin

Freshwater Bay...
After a couple of days laid out we went around to Boab beach for a run to see if we could manage.

Boab beach. Notice how Buffy the Barra Slayer finds the shade…

I modified my walking stick for beach work with a plastic bottle and gaffa tape…

it gives hours and hours of amusement for  The Buffminer.

While I’ve been laid up The Mustang has been becoming familiar with some Lemon sharks that hang around the back of the boat.
Buffy the Barra Slayer wants to play with them… while the Mustang has been feeding them …
…and eventually had them coming up for a scratch…
…oh and of course The Mustang had to cart the water…

8th  September 2014 –Freshwater Bay to Cape Talbot

Well we’ve decided it’s necessary to head back to Darwin. We came back past Middle Rock passage with a bit of help from the current…

8 knots and according to the (incorrect) chart we are on top of Middle Rock.

The Mustang was skipper today and had no trouble handling the boat herself – plenty of advice available but not wanted.  The wind has turned and this anchorage is not suitable so we might head back around Cape Londonderry tonight.

10th September 2014 Cape Talbot the Glycosmis bay.

This is a great anchorage once you get into the secondary bay on the high tide.  The outside bay is too open to current and wind and is very uncomfortable.  This place has…

protective rock walls with water falls,

Fish- including a mangrove jack to add to The Mustang’s species list.
Beaches for walks (for those who can) and bbq’s
I’ve even managed to get around a bit and been practicing making rock shadow puppets…

We had planned to rest up here until I was fit enough for the trip back across the gulf.
 a nice spot.

However… we seem to be coming up to a good weather window for the two or three day crossing so…

13th September – Glycosmis Bay to Darwin.

We made the 250nm passage across the Bonaparte Gulf in just under 46 hours. We arrived in time to make doctor’s appointments,  shower and get a yummy rib eye steak at the yacht club.  Poor Buffy the Barra Slayer is back to being tied to the fence while we indulge ourselves and let someone else cook and do the dishes…

Buffy the Barra Slayer is welcomed back to Darwin by her fan club...

All that's left to do is The Last Post...
